Energy Management

A typical time required to charge a vehicle that has been operated for 36 holes is 10 to 14 hours. Be aware that not all battery charger brands and models are compatible with energy management systems; consult your E-Z-GO representative for the suitability of the battery charger that you intend to use.

Although the following information does not directly pertain to the design of the storage facility, the prolonged layup of vehicles during winter conditions should be considered.

The battery may self-discharge over several weeks, which will result in the batteries freezing. A frozen battery cannot be restored, but must be replaced.

No matter what charger is used, it makes good sense to frequently check the condition of the vehicles and the state of charge of the batteries.

During periods of storage, the batteries will need regular attention to keep them maintained and prevent discharge.

In winter conditions, the battery must be fully charged to reduce the possibility of freezing. A fully charged battery will not freeze in the most severe of winter climates. Although the chemical reaction is slowed in cold temperatures, the batteries must be stored fully charged and disconnected from any circuit that could discharge the battery pack. Each battery must be cleaned and all deposits neutralized and removed from the battery case to prevent self-discharge. The battery pack should be tested or recharged at 30-day intervals.
